Types of dryers:
(1) By whether the drying schedule is controlled: natural drying vs artificial drying. Artificial drying is also called forced drying because the process is controlled.
(2) Classification by drying method may be into:
1) Convective drying: a gas drying medium blows across the body surface at a set speed to dry it.
2) Radiant drying: infrared, microwave or other electromagnetic radiation dries the body.
3) Vacuum drying: dry the body under vacuum (negative pressure) without heating it; needs sealed vacuum equipment and is hard to run continuously.
4) Combined drying: two or more methods used together to play to each strength and often achieve a better result.
Some other drying methods are not used in sanitary ceramics production.
Depending on whether the drying regime is continuous, dryers are divided into batch dryers and continuous dryers.
Continuous dryers can also be classified by the relative motion of drying medium and body into co-current, counter-current and mixed-flow;
By dryer shape: chamber dryers, tunnel dryers, etc.
and hot-air
(1) Recirculating exhaust gas can save heater energy;
(2) The drying schedule is adjustable. With automatic control, temperature and humidity of the drying medium can follow a set program accurately, so quality is good.
(3) Multiple supply outlets with opposed blowing give more even room temperature and humidity and better energy use.
